Glossary

Cot Quilt- a bed cover of decorative fabrics forming a top and bottom with wadding in the centre. This is held in place and closed with a fabric binding around the edge.

Cot Bumper- a pad to provide cushioning around the sides of the cot. As with the cot quilt, it is made with a fabric covering and binding with wadding in the centre.

Duvet Cover- also known as a “doona.” It is a washable cover used to enclose and protect a duvet inner. It is fastened shut with nickel poppers or domes.

Duvet Inner- also known as a “comforter.” This is the fluffy filler used inside a duvet cover and provides the insulation. These range from feathers, wool, and cotton, through to synthetics.

Pillowslip- this is a removable pillow covering with an inside flap to hold in place.

Fitted Sheet – this is a fabric covering to protect the mattress. It is shaped and elasticised on the edges to fit snugly onto the mattress.

Euro Pillow- this is a large square cushion for the bed with a decorative cover.

Valance- also known as a “bedfrill” or “skirt” this is a decorative piece of fabric cut to fit and cover the base of the bed.

PVC Changing Mat - a soft foam pad coverred in plastic coated fabric. Normally used on a change table. It is shaped to provide comfort when changing baby's nappy.

Hooded Towel - a white towelling baby bath towel with a hood attached so that baby can be completly wrapped up after a bath.

Feeding Cushion - also known as a 'jolly jumbo'. This is a cushion in the shape of an elephant which is designed to wrap around a nursing mother to provide comfort and assist with breast feeding.

Toy Barrel - a fabric covered foam cylinder for storing toys. The soft sides allow the toddler to lean in easily.

Distressed - This refers to a type of paint finish which has been coarsely rubbed back to give a used or aged effect.

Solid - this refers to a 'normal' paint finish that has not been distressed in any way.
